This will be my last post for a while, and I won't be able to read your posts either as I begin 2 weeks of cataract surgery tomorrow. First my left eye, then 2 weeks later my right eye. Doc says PC work if forbidden as he doesn't want me to strain my other eye while the first is recovering.

Will truly miss reading the Forums frown

Melody, you're going to be missed. I hope you know that you have a lot of friends here who'll be thinking about you.

Do what the Doc tells you and hurry back. This group is rather creative, so maybe we'll find a way to keep in touch.

I went through cataract surgery last May and it sure has made a difference. It is really nothing to it. I wish I had done it sooner. I had left eye done and 2 weeks later the right eye. I dont even need to use glasses to drive now or watch TV.
I am sure you will be glad you did it. The only bad part was wearing a patch over eye for a day. Good luck with your surgery and hope to see you posting shortly. Hal

Mel, we'll miss ya but you'll be fine. When my Mom did it her biggest problem was getting eye drops in her eyes (no real problem) and seeing so well that she was surprised at many daily things.

Do what the doc says, Mel, and you can catch up reading later. To keep you in the loop, you can call Lorie on even numbered days and Judy on odd numbered days and they can give you the highlights, read you any important posts... Ruthie will serve as alternate for Judy this weekend while she is off playing lighthouse.

Good luck Mel! Had 1 eye done 7yrs. ago and cataract is developing in the other eye so will need another surgery in the future. Neither surgery nor recovery was a problem.

Melody,

You will see so much better after it's done.
The colors and everything is so much brighter.
Just think how good you will be able to see all
those lighthouses!

I hope surgery goes well. It really helped my mother's eyes when she had it done. Believe me, I know how important eyesight is!

Best wishes from me too Melody! My sister-in-law had both her eyes done not too long ago and her recovery and results were speedy and fine, respectively as I'm sure yours will be. Take care and we'll look forward to your return.

Had my 1 week checkup on Friday, doctor says left eye is healing wonderfully, and what a difference in my vision. Wow I hadn't realized just how muted colors had become and how blurry my vision was eek . Doctor said I could spend 30 - 45 minutes on pc just to blink frequently, so I had to go through forums and catch-up.

Right eye scheduled for this Wednesday, so I'll be off-line for awhile after again.

Many, many thanks for all your well wishes! Deeply, deeply appreciated. smile

Glad all is going well, Mel. My mother had both eyes done about a year and a half ago and it's made a wonderful difference - she sees soooo much better! Good luck with the second round! smile

Mel, great news!!!

My mother-in-law recently had cataract surgery and is doing great. We've nicknamed her Eagle-Eye. I think she see's better then us now. Not bad for a 91 year old.

Good luck with the other eye!!! towel

Mel,

Congrats on the success of the first operation and best wishes on continued success with the second one.

My mother had both eyes successfully done a couple of years ago to her delight. I've only known her with glasses and still have nanoseconds of "what's different here?" when I look at her. Only time she has to wear glasses is to read the crawl at the bottom of the TV when one comes across. She has to wear sunglasses when she's in the car or outside as her eyes are still sensitive to light, but that's a small price to pay for the improved vision. Like you, everything looks vibrant. groupwave groupwave

Good to hear from you Mel!
Good luck for Wednesday! There will be another virtual candle burning!

Yes, like so many, I have parents who had this op. Both of them had both eyes done and both are HAPPY and my mum ended up not even needing glasses any more! It is great what medicine can do these days!

Glad to hear it's going well, Mel!

My dad's friend got the surgery last year. He's in his 80s, and he said that it was incredible what he'd been missing for the past few years. All of a sudden, on our sailing trip this year, he was able to spot the far-off buoys and markers that he couldn't pick out before.

It's definitely good...and from everyone I've heard, your Quality of Life goes up 1000-fold once you realise how much brighter and the world is again. smile

Good luck with the next stage...I'll keep you close in mind over the next few days.
