Bill Atwell, father of Jeff and father-in-law of Maureen Atwell underwent quadruple by-pass surgery in San Diego yesterday. He is in ICU now -- hopes to be released midweek.

Please keep Mr. Atwell and Jeff, Maureen and Brianna in your prayers.

Thanks John for the post. Our prayers go up for Mr. Atwell, and of course the rest of the family. I had the opportunity to talk with Maureen Friday regarding this since my father-in-law went through the same thing a month ago.

Tim - Keeping the flame lit...

My now 84 year old Dad went through that operation when he was 80. The surgery is scary as hell to the family but the successful results and the increase in the quality of life was worth the risk.

My Dad was operated on at 1100 hours on a Thursday and I brought him home the following Monday morning. The recovery seems slow at first but within five months my Dad felt like a new person. Even at 84, he still walks two miles each day.

I wish Mr. Atwell the very best and hope and pray that he recovers even sooner than my Dad did.

We are wishing your father-in-law a speedy and healthy recovery. My dad had a five by-pass heart surgery 6 years ago when he was 65. It is amazing how quick they get them up and going again.

Maureen reports Tuesday evening:

Maureen reports that today (Friday 12/14) Bill finally got out of ICU and now hopes to be home by Tuesday or Wednesday.

That sure is good news. Now we need to keep praying for full and rapid recovery. And for a very merry Christmas for the whole family.

Maureen reported at tonight's chat that her father-in-law came home from the hospital today. He still needs our prayers and she is very appreciative of all the prayers we've sent their way during this trying time.

Bill Atwell was re-admitted Sunday afternoon 103.5 temperature...infection somewhere.
They are doing tests to find out.

Bill will be in for at least 48 hours. Maureen reports his x-rays do not show improvement with the spots (fluid) on his lungs. She is expecting it will be longer than 48 hours.

She thanks us again for our thoughts and prayers.

I know from this summer hospitals are no fun but we get out and they are good places when we need them.Mo may your father in law end up with a merry Xmas and a happy new year.as my dr said during the prep for my 2d bypass.its not a cure just to give you a better quality of life and I ampraying that he comes home with that.Bill O'Brien

Talking with Maureen last week, she reports that Bill Atwell is now in a private care facility and is finally responding and eating.

Thatis good news! We will continue to keep the Atwell family in our prayers.
