As a newbie, I am always amazed by the battle stories of some of the "veterans", a.k.a. WACKOS, Saints, etc. I enjoy my collection every day as well as visiting the real thing on as many occasions that time will allow.
Thus, I would like to start a two-question poll. You may provide justification if you wish. My interest is this: Are there a few models that are a concensus favorite among collectors? Do those correlate with the real thing?
Survey Q1: What is your favorite "real" lighthouse (assuming that you have seen it in person)?
Survey Q2: What is your favorite Harbour Lights sculpture?
I'll keep tally and post the results after members have a chance to respond.

I'll start it off. Please note that my selections may change after my experiences do.
1. Currituck Beach, NC 2. Cape Canaveral, FL {I don't know if we will ever again see a piece with as much character as the "Rocket"! Unlike many currrent retired LEs, Canaveral has not been outdone by its GLOW. Also, I have always been fascinated by the space program and had the pleasure to study at the same college -- Purdue University -- as nearly 20 astronauts, including Neal Armstrong and Gus Grissom.

My favorite "real" light is Southeast Block Island on my favorite island in Rhode Island. I remember the light before it was moved, during the move, and was also there for the relighting. Now comes the hard part...my favorite HL??? That's a tough question to answer. The newer HLs are more impressive than the older ones and then there are a few Glows that are really nice. I think I'm going to pass on answering this part. I don't have enough time to type in all the possible candidates for favorite. Bob

Favorite real lighthouse: East Quoddy Head (can't wait for that sculpture)! Favorite HL piece: Whatever one I'm hoping to buy next! I don't own all the pieces, so I'll limit my choice to my collection. It is tough to name one ... Point Arena. Cape Henry, Cape Canaveral, Alcatraz, Thomas Point, Morris Island Then-Now, Jupiter, Portland Breakwater are all runners-up.

Favorite real lighthouse Greys Harbour (Cape Henry & St. Simons close)
Favorite replica is my lighthouse cabinet (oak display case built like a lighthouse) that holds/displays around 60-80 HL's at any given time. I just love looking at them all daily, and periodically rearrange them (by area, by color, by issue date, new vs. old, etc.)and enjoy them all over again. Basically all the HL's, or I haven't seen a HL that I didn't like.

My favorite "real" lighthouse is Whitefish Bay in Michigan over looking lake Superior where it runs into the St. Marys river.
And my favorite HL sculpture would be Sea Girt, with Pt. Fermin coming in a very close second

My favorite "real" light is Ship Shoal, LA currently featured in Lighthouse Digest. She's an elegant, interesting, beautiful old lady tragically wasting away.
My favorite HL is Sea Girt, too with Portland Head, Bald Head, Port Sanilac and Jeffery's Hook tied for second. It's incredibly difficult to choose just one HL, and my second place choices change almost daily. I love 'em all, almost. Even those which others don't care for like Grosse Point are near and dear to my heart.

1. Point Fermin and Point Vicente 2. Point Fermin and Point Vicente (so I'm hopeful)
The reason - Michael proposed to me at Point Fermin and Point Vicente. OK, maybe it was a long proposal.

Favorites. Some change some do not. There are many lighthouses and Harbour Lights that I have not seen in person, so it would be unfair for me to include those I haven't personally viewed.
Of those I have seen, here are the favorites:
1. Lighthouse- Little Sable Point, MI I have been visiting that lighthouse regularly since I was 7 years old. Definately a sentimental favorite.
2. Harbour Light- Right now I would have to say Sanibel, FL. That could well change as Hillsboro should be here soon!

1. My favorite lighthouse has to be Little Sable Point, Michigan. Sentimental favorite like Todd's. The lighthouse that hooked me into "lighthousing" was first seen while camping at Silver Lake. It's always visited when we're back in that area.
2. This is a hard one because each new lighthouse becomes a "must have." The new techniques they use for railings and for trees are spectacular. I can't even try to pick a favorite. They all are.

1. Cape Neddick (the Nubble) in York, ME for favorite real lighthouse.
2. St. Augustine, FL (HL-138) for favorite HL piece but Fenwick, DE (HL-213) is a close second.

My favorite real lighthouse has always been Fort Gratiot Light, Port Huron, MI. Stationed there with CG 1971-73 and have lots of experiences with it.
Favorite HL is tough. I'm partial to Portland Head, but then I start looking at the others, and White River is really nice, etc., etc, etc., etc., etc.

Don't have a favorite "real" lighthouse yet. Just starting to check them out.

Real Favorite(s): Point Bonita - Because of its design & view Punta Gorda - Because of the memories
HL Favorites: Any Great Lakes or Californina (and the West Coast). Not to mention those screw piles and Southern Belles. Of course those East Coast lights are where it all began. Love them all!

Favorite Real Light: Grand Haven, Michigan I have been visiting this lighthouse since before I could walk. There's nothing better than looking out your vaction window and seeing a friendly light.
Favorite Harbour Light: It's hard to choose, but if I had to say one or two, it would probably be Portland Head, as the first one I ever purchased. Also, Point Fermin, Thomas Point, New Point Loma, Chicago Harbor, Portland Breakwater, Currituck, etc. etc. I could go on forever.
