I received my "Halfway Rock, Maine light from LHD today and have to tell you that anyone who ordered it will NOT be disappointed. It is very well done. The size is really great, not to large and not too small. Just right! Let's hear it from those of you who are getting this piece. I give it a definite "thumbs up." Bert

Sorry Bert,
I haven't received mine as yet. I elected to have it signed by Bill and Nancy and/or Kim. But the photos of it look great.

I think you'll like it even if you are waiting for a signature. I like the size. MIght just be what the group is looking for in size for the FORUM piece. Also I thought that it was going to be HL 905 but was surprised to see the sticker on the bottom. It's CLH-101. HL is into CUSTOM DESIGNS BY HARBOUR LIGHTS. Bert

Still waiting for mine and to tell you the truth I can't remember if it was going to be signed. I liked the looks of it from the picture though.

Anyone else getting the feeling that Harbour Lights may be getting into the Custom Design Lighthouse business? It's a good way to expand their horizons so that lighthouse groups and other interested parties can have a replica made of any light as long as you purchase enough of them. After all, "It's Only Money!" Bob

Bob,
That's exactly what I was thinking. No reason that they shouldn't do it. And it would make additional money for HL.

Just pulled my piece out to place in its new home (we moved into the home we've been renovating in mid-April where I now have room to display all the sculptures that have been stored in the attic of other house). Anybody have thoughts as to why HL doesn't provide either a tent card or a Certificate of Authenticity on specially-made sculptures? None of the sculptures they've made for Lighthouse Depot have tent cards or Cs of A, Avery Point, CT and Halfway Rock, ME have neither as well. I'm printing up labels to adhese to the shelf the piece is displayed on, but HL's labels are much nicer.

I have never used a tent card in my display. I have never had anything to do with a Certificate of Authenticity other than seeing it in the box. Even if you lose them, Harbour Lights supplies you with a replacement for free. I always felt the only important thing was the HL itself. If is was in at least excellent condition, I wouldn't worry about the paperwork that comes with it. I know some people treasure these pieces of paper and some even put those items in plastic in binders. I just never got into that part of collecting. I really don't know why Harbour Lightsa doesn't put those items in a specialty light. Maybe it's a cost saving measure plus they don't have to worry about free replacements in the future. Bob

I received my Halfway Rock today and am very satisfied with it. The only thing that I don't understand is they advertised it as a limited edition of 600 and my flag say 1200. I wonder which it is. Is it false advertising to advertise 600 in hopes of everyone rushing to buy while they can or is it a misprint in the catalog? Or did HL mark the flag wrong? Does anybody want to venture a guess?

Rich, I can't venture even a guess until I receive my piece. However, I'd bet that it is one of the three possibilities you proposed. bobo

Rich & others, This was taken from the advertisement on their website. Harbour Lights has replicated this sturdy survivor in a limited edition of only 600 pieces I'm wondering if there is a mistake as mine also says 1200 pieces. Bert

I contacted Lighthouse Depot about the 600 versus 1200 edition size. I talked to Lisa in the main store and she was surprised to hear about the piece saying 1200 and the add saying 600. She called bacl about an hour later and said that in fact there would only be 600 pieces and that Harbour Lights screwed up and had 1200 put on the flag. Mystery solved!

Not exactly a C of A in the traditional sense, but the Portland Observatory piece did come with a very nice history card, I'll call it.

I finally received my Halfway Rock yesterday. The bottom sticker also is noted with CHL101. Oh well....
But another question -- in the box was also a Thumbnail. Which light is it? Does anyone know? Does it have a number? Thanks.

I contacted Harbour Lights and asked them about the 1200 edition number on the Halfway Rock. The girl at HL customer service told me that Lighthouse Depot originaly ordered 1200 and later had the production changed to 600. The change was a last minute thing and there wasn't time to change the edition number on the lighthouse. I personaly believe HL's version. Light house depot also told me that Halfway rock number was HL905. Bob You probally got one of the reunion thumbnails.

I sincerely doubt he got a Reunion thumbnail. I received the entire production run. Any that remain are in my house at this moment. Bob should also recognize the Reunion thumbnails since he has a set.
One possibility is that LHD also commissioned a thumbnail. More likely it is one of the signing event thumbnails. Was your light sent after the recent Bill event? Take a look at the thumbnail under a magnifying glass and see if it looks like Fourteen Foot Bank. This would just be a nice thing for LHD to do for its customers.

Does the CLH comes from Custom Lighthouse? You'd think that CHL (Custom Harbour Lights) would be more appropriate. . . .

Bob should also recognize the Reunion thumbnails since he has a set. I thought that Bob was playing a guessing game with us. I didn't realize he really didn't know the light. My guess would also be that LD still had some thumbnails left over from their store event.

DANIEL,
Your guess was close to being correct. I called Lighthouse Depot this morning. Apparently, Bill Younger personally put a thumbnail in the boxes as he signed the Halfway Rock piece.
This was done completely at random. According to LD, it is a thumbnail of Halfway Rock -- but done completely differently. Only a few people got the thumbnail. How about that?
