We survived the Maryland Lighthouse Challenge. It took 2 days and 650 driving miles. Friday night, the Sheraton Inner Harbor was nice though the staff needs courtesy lessons. We were off the next morning

Cheaspeake Lightship

Seven Foot Knoll - I missed getting a shot of them here

Fort Washington Light (Sorry, Frani chopped off the top).

Piney Point Light

Summer taking a walk along Piney Point's beach.

Pt. Lookout - No Pic. The light is on a National Park and in this section dogs are not allowed out of their vehicles.

Drum Point Light

Cove Point Light

That was all the lights we could make on day one. By this time Summer and Murphy were REALLY tired... of getting their pictures taken.

We spent the night at the Tilghman Island Inn. A very nice inn that is VERY dog friendly. We had dinner in the bar with Summer & Murphy. The house dog (a standard black poodle names Jasmine) visited, then fell asleep on one of the lounge chairs while another lady brought in her Maltese to have a drink at the bar. We were off and running the next morning.

Hooper Strait Light

Turkey Point Light - Summer & Murphy like the mile long hike through the woods to get to the light.

Corcord Point Light - the last light on the challenge.

After all these lights and a badly misinformed GPS unit, we actually finished second at Concord Point, and we didn't even try.

Well, next month is the New Jersey Lighthouse Challenge. Summer & Murphy are old hat with this one. They have done it twice before.

What happened to Murphy at Piney Point, didn't he get to walk on the beach? We hit a few of the lights mixed in with Bill's events for the weekend, the one that I wanted to get to but didn't, was Turkey Point. It was late when we got to the North end of the Chesy so we went to Concord then to the hotel as it was dark by then...

Thanks for the image of Turkey Point as we haven't been out there for about 5 years, it is nice to see all of their hard work, the light is looking good!!

Pretty cool concept! I'm living the canine life vicariously through you.

Looking forward to seeing you at Sea Girt during the challenge...you know who I'll be...

OK, I'll ask the question that just begs to be asked - who was having the drink - the lady or the dog?

Sounds like the Inn was certainly dog friendly. Glad that you, Frani and the beagles had a fun challenge. Looks like you had a very pretty weekend.

Thanks all.

Paul,
Murphy walked the beach as well. He just avoided getting his pic taken. Turkey Point looked great. They installed a spiral staircase. I forgot to get a shot of it.

Dave,
At TII, it could have been the Maltese. It was that relaxed.

Nice pics, Joe! It's nice to see your furry buddies with you.

Did anybody give you any static about bringing the dogs on to the lighthouse properties? I once brought my Jack Russell Terrier to Montauk Light and was asked to leave with the dog after they collected my admission fee. I didn't recall seeing any signs indicating dogs were not allowed at that time.

I have two dogs now. The "Jack" has been gone for two years. I haven't brought my two "furry kids" to any lighthouses fearing they may not be allowed on the grounds.

Thanks for sharing your pics with us.

The only "No Pets" area was Point Lookout (southern end of the park). The light is near a bird sanctuary I think.

The NJ Challenge is dog friendly. There are no "NO PETS" lighthouses in NJ. The grounds are OK, its the inside that is off limits.
