I have been searching for an Old Field Point '98 Christmas piece like the one pictured in my catalog, but the trees are all differrent. Were ther any produced with the leafless tree, or do they all have evergreens which are obviously easier to ship. thanks.

Actually, all the Old Field Point pieces were originally produced with the leafless pewter deciduous tree. The leafless trees were all chopped down and destroyed by a band of irate elves (and a beaver, some say), and the evergreens were planted in their stead. Only one leafless tree is rumored to remain -- it is in the strong hands of a wacko, but is not attached to the same base as the lighthouse any longer. Your guess is correct: Y&A determined that the leafless tree could not survive the rigors of shipping and replaced them all before sending the pieces out to retailers.

Speaking of trees.... I just purchased Point Pinos, CA this evening. The one the retailer had in the box in the back room turned out to have a broken tree. This is my first HL with a "detached" tree-o.k., so Amelia Is. has detached trees, but they have thick trunks! Anyway, the deciduous trees seem very fragile. Anyone have any problems with these non-evergreen types that aren't leaning on a building?
