We have a sell-out!

Thanks to all those who purchased one of the 100 limited edition Gary Martin prints of Grand Haven Lighthouse!!

I need to try to recover information from the thread I accidently deleted last night and to bring up to date my spread sheet of sales names and print numbers. I will do that today and tomorrow (Sunday.)

I will run a random number program to select the winner of the large framed photograph on Wednesday and announce the winning number and individual's name at the Harbour Lights chat which starts at 9 PM Wed ET. I'll post the information in this Forum immediately after the chat.

You have also known for some time who got the last print . . . . . unless you mean the 100th print actually ordered.

Of course I knew that you wanted 100/100, Dave. I was wondering who'd placed the 100th order as you surmised.

Congrats to Frank on having the good fortune to win that wonderful photograph!

Thanks again to Gary Martin for providing the photograph for the smaller and larger version!

Many thanks to John Chidester for taken on the burden of putting the whole "Support the Collector Forums" thing together. I feel it was a tremendous success and helped to shift the financial burden of operating the CF to some of the fellow participants.

Re: Support The Collector Forums Part 4 - 02/11/03 03:51 AM

Well, I got to see the 10x30 print at Kal Color this afternoon on the way home from work. Unfortunately, the first print met an untimely demise when it got a serious kink. Needless to say, they're redoing it, but I was quite pleased with the print and I hope Franklin will feel likewise when he sees it.

As promised, as soon as I have it framed, I'll get some digital shots for John to post here on the forum or whatever.

Happy for you Franklin laugh It is such a nice picture...hope you find a good place to hang it. I too want to thank John and Gary for all the work they put into this project. Not sure if you plan to have another one for this year but I have to say...we should all be helping to keep this great web site up and running, even if there are no pictures to purchase. This web site is more like a club and we should all be willing to help support John's great work here. IMHO

Re: Support The Collector Forums Part 4 - 02/16/03 06:38 PM

Well, the 10x30 signed/numbered print is matted and framed and, well, maybe I'm prejudiced, but darn I think it looks great!!! smile Overall dimensions of it, ready to hang are about 20x40, so it's essentially about couch-sized. I'll get out the digital camera this afternoon and take some photos of it so they can be posted here.

Re: Support The Collector Forums Part 4 - 02/19/03 06:10 PM

WOW laugh laugh laugh (Not a WOW™, but WOW nonetheless)
I can't believe I won. (I hadn't been on-line for a couple of days and learned my name was drawn from my fellow Gateway Lightkeepers at our dinner on Monday.)
I didn't think I was going to be able to be at the Midwest Regional. I am on the Board of Directors of the Missouri State Bowling Association and we have a meeting in Kansas City on June 8. I had tried all kinds of combinations and nothing worked (except for one that was too expensive - about $350 for airfare from KC to Grand Rapids).
Then I remembered that the travel sites don't show Southwest Airlines flights. You have to go to the Southwest site. I'll be driving to KC Friday afternoon. Flying to Chicago Midway Friday evening (only $68 round trip). Staying at a Holiday Inn near Midway airport Friday & Saturday nights. Driving a rental (which was very cheap - under $20 including tax for the day) to Grand Rapids. Taking into account the time change, this will put me in Grand Rapids from the start of the regional at 11 through dinner time.
Don't think I want to try to carry a framed photo that size onto a plane, so I expect I'll ask one of my fellow Gateway Lightkeepers in attendance to drive it back to St. Louis for me.
Because of the KC meeting, Yelena won't be with me. But I am pretty sure the two of us will be at the Long Island regional.
Thanks again for all your work!

Sorry for the misspelling, Frank... But congratulations, nonetheless!

Glad you've worked it out to be in Grand Rapids!

And again, thanks for EVERYONE who supported the Collector Forums by purchasing the limited edition print for 2003.

Re: Support The Collector Forums Part 4 - 02/21/03 03:11 AM

Frank,

I'm sure John won't let you get away with having the print shipped before the midwest regional for obvious reasons, but it is packed in box intended for shipping large framed photographs if you can't coerce one of the Gateway Lightkeepers to haul it back for you. Of course if they do and it just "happens" to get hung over someone's couch, I take no responsibility for any problems you might have getting it back from them!!!

Re: Support The Collector Forums Part 4 - 02/21/03 11:41 AM

Good News - Yelena will be coming to Grand Rapids with me. I didn't think she'd care for spending 3 to 4 hours in the lobby of whatever Kansas City hotel my meeting will be in on Sunday morning, but she doesn't seem to mind that.

Re: Support The Collector Forums Part 4 - 02/21/03 05:27 PM

Great news Frank...

And here's your prize. We'll expect a picture of it once it is hanging in your home.

(Photographer Gary Martin not included. Object is larger than it appears.)

Re: Support The Collector Forums Part 4 - 02/21/03 10:35 PM

Which object would that be Gary? Hope it's not you or you'd be a giant! wink

(All that talk about smoke and lighthouses, here we see some right up on the mantle. But I suppose we must assume Gary knows how to keep his fire under control or it's one of those phoney gas fireplaces? smile )

Re: Support The Collector Forums Part 4 - 02/22/03 02:28 AM

Well, Mombo, as far as size goes, I'm hardly "tiny" at about 6'3 and 290#. That said, it's probably safe to say both the gorilla holding the print and the print itself are fairly large!

As far as the fireplace is concerned, we've had plenty over the years that burned logs. This one, given where we live, has gas logs and serves in a very functional capacity when we have a power outage in the winter. It's one of three here in the house that we use to heat the place in the winter if we need to.

Re: Support The Collector Forums Part 4 - 02/22/03 04:55 AM

In this house I have an old style wood burning stove in the basement room, also used for emergency heating, but still miss the fireplace and mantle from my old house.

That brick wall and mantle look great Gary and that picture you're holding would look super above the mantle! smile

Re: Support The Collector Forums Part 4 - 02/22/03 05:43 AM

Actually, Mombo, there's a lighthouse photo hanging on the mantle already. That mantle goes to the top of the cathedral ceiling in the great room of this house, which is about 25 feet up. The photo hanging on the mantle is a shot I did of Big Red a number of years ago. A four minute exposure late in the evening that has gone into reciprocity failure making the sky and the calm surface of Lake Michigan a deep, royal purple with the light from the lantern room of Big Red reflecting red/orange on the lake in the foreground. My wife complained that it was too purple when I first hung it about 6 years ago. I took it down once and hung another photo there for about a week and was politely told that it just didn't measure up and that she'd like the photo of Big Red put back where it belonged. It has been there ever since. I'll have to see if I've got a shot of it that I can post for folks on here to see.
