Overfalls LV-118 on the move

Overfalls LV-118 on the move - 03/02/99 05:23 AM

Noticed on the USLHS Chesapeake Chapter web site that the Lightship Overfalls, LV-118, has been donated to a group that will hopefully be able to better care for her. Plans call for the ship to end up in Old Saybrook. Move is scheduled for this spring.

I saw the Overfalls this past October and it is beginning to look kind of shabby. Hope that the move to a new owner and new location bode well for the lightship. The Lewes Historical Society is to be commended for looking for a way to preserve this piece of our history.

It's always good to see the lot of an aid to navigation improve, but the Cornfield? Isn't that kind of a strange name for a lightship? Makes me think more of Nebraska than a Connecticut seaport! Oh well. She's in good hands now. Best of luck to her new caretakers.

Thanks for the link, Dave!
