Pics of Lighthouses after Katrina/Rita - 10/06/05 03:34 AM

I had some free time so I searched through NOAA's photos and found several "After" photo's of lighthouses (and their former sites). I posted them (and some before photos) here: http://txlights.info/katrina.htm

Thanks for sharin, and for all the time you put into this! I've been wondering about the fate of these lights, and even though we have had "personal reports" of the damage, I havn't really seen anything "visual." smile

Thanks Zah for the info. Wondered particularly about the TX lights we saw in 2002 - so thanks for taking the trouble!

Just found this image of all that remains of Ship Island from a fascinating Katrina blog...I'm pasting the link to the photo, only, since the blog is long and would require a lot of wading, but the URL of the blog, if you wish to peruse it, is http://dancingwithkatrina.blogspot.com

The photo...the thing sticking up to the left of the radio tower thing used to be the lighthouse. frown

The Ship Island replica was very nice, I saw it in 2003. I see the tower to the right is still standing (a bit surprised).
