10th Annual Little Red Lighthouse Festival - 09/20/02 06:23 PM

The 10th Annual Festival will be held on Saturday 9-21-02 from Noon- 5PM.

James Earl Jones and Carol Higgins Clark will be reading the book "The Little Red Lighthouse And The Great Gray Bridge"

The entrance to Fort Washington Park is at 181st St off Riverside Dr.

The Lighthouse will be designated a Literary Landmark by Friends of Libraries U.S.A..

It was announced that the 1880 Lightouse was relit this past Tuesday. The Coast Guard found a lens similar to the original and it flashes a soft red light one second on two seconds off.

I know it isn't much notice, but maybe someone in the NY area can get there. In the past the fesival has included things such as rides for the children, swimming races, tours of the Lighthouse, etc.

Be nice is someone got some video of the readings. James Earl Jones would have to be a pretty impressive story reader.

Unfrotunately I'll be at the very bottom on NJ at the NJLHS Meeting and then I go to Philadelphia for a concert (Al Stewart, Colin Blunstone & Rod Argent- Yeah, I know Who?)

If I had seen a notice earlier I would have posted it earlier.

Well this would have been neat to attend last Saturday since Kingston-Rondout was a bust. What would another 100 miles have been for the opportunity to hear James Earl Jones! But I.O. wouldn't have gone the extra miles anyway, what a lighthouse scrooge!
