Here's the game. Guess what lighthouse this is? Bet you can't. I'll leave a hint. It's in a mid-Atlantic state

Looks an awful lot like Peggy's Cove, Nova Scotia (a Canadian mid-Atlantic state).
I see the resemblence but that isn't it!

Ooooh...this is a tough one. There's so many in Canada that are exactly the same. Any hints?
OK, it's not in Canada, it is in the mid-Atlantic states of the USA. Oh, and it's displays a constant white and green light. It's maintained by a church. And it's nowhere near what you think. Maybe it's a trick? It's really there, it's really a light but maybe it's not where you would expect to see it!

Is it the light that is along the highway in Maryland off of I-70? I think it's the one we saw driving back home from the Baltimore Reunion. Quite a site to see so far from the water!
Bingo, Grantsville Mountain Light, elevation 2200 ft. Right off of the Gransville exit on I-68 at the MD-WV boarder about 95 miles from I-70/I-68 split.

Huh...that's weird. Is there any reason/explanation for why it's there...? I'm somewhat familiar with the area and there's not much reason to have a lighthouse there. Is it a relocation situation...or did some lighthouse fan (a member of the forums...?) just decide to build it.
It was built by a local church (World Lighthouse Worship Center Grantsville) about two years ago. It's kinda funny because the actually church is a metal prefab looked like it was ordered from a company that does those metal warehouses for cheap. I guess, they built the church for next to nil in order to build the lighthouse.
When I was up there last week, on the way to Pgh, they were constructing a pier that extends from the light out over the side of the big grassy knoll that overlooks I-68. The view from the bottom of the light is amazing, I can only imagine what it would look like from the top of the cupola.

We stopped and took a few pictures of it. You are right, there's a wonderful view from there! I also loved driving on that highway - beautiful countryside all around for many, many miles!
Sure beats the PA Turnpike and is much better than the old US-48 that I-68 replaced!
