Brick Party for Cape St. George???

Brick Party for Cape St. George??? - 07/19/06 02:13 AM

Grace suggested a brick party for Cape St. George, I think that is an interesting idea. The bricks need to be carefully separated and the mortar chipped off.

If interested please post a reply. October was suggested by a board member but there are a lot of lighthouse events and meetings in October, so I was thinking the weekend of Veterans Day (November 11th). It will be a lot cooler then.

Eric, if I can find a cheap flight and inexpensive lodgings nearby, I will certainly try to make it. I've wanted to get involved with a project like this for a loooong time! Btw, I suggested a Wacko Restoration Team; then, you came up with the idea of the brick party. Verrry cool! cool

Sounds like fun but we won't be in Florida until December. We'll contribute if there is to be a fundraiser though.

Talk to Dennis (our President) today and I brought up the brick party idea, and he said anytime after November 1st, so lets plan on Saturday November 11th for the day to chip mortor off of bricks. [I realize this is too far from home for many of you and don't know of any cheap flights into Tallahassee (if you find one, let me know, it is a long drive from my house). If you haven't taken vacation this year maybe you could combine the two}]

Dennis has been working on the lantern room metal that was not damaged (about half) and has found a place to replicate the broken parts. His goal is to have the lantern room rebuilt by February, which would then be displayed until the rest of the tower is done.

Working on getting a lapel pin and maybe a patch, I will make a new post if this happens.

Eric,
November 11 sounds good to me! I have already marked my calender, keep me posted.

Although Sunday October 15 would be better. As there will be an Event held at Carrabelle on Sat. and many Lighthouse Lovers will be in the area that weekend anyway!

Stephanie, what is going on at Carrabelle? Nothing is listed under events on their website. I picked November 11th for a couple of reasons, one it is a national holiday, so I know I won't have to work (I working almost every Saturday right now) and there are several lighthouse events in October, including the WACKO Maine Trip, the FLA meeting (in which I am representing St. George Lighthouse Association), and others. HOWEVER, if you are going to the Carrabelle event would you remind them (they are not invited yet but will be) of the event?
