Can anyone recommend a really nice display cabinet?

If you don't live close enough to have Paul's brother-in-law stop over and build you some, try and located a dealer near you that sells Howard Miller display cabinets. They have several neat styles with lots of shelves for lighthouses that are very well built. Just watch for a sale at your local dealer. 3 out of 5 of my curios are from Howard Miller and I am most pleased with them.

I agree with the Howard Miller cabinets. Five out of my seven are Howard Miller cabinets. The last I bought was a cabinet 24" deep X 48" wide X 60" tall. It has a front door that slides to the side and the shelves are almost 1/2" thick. It weighs a ton but each shelf holds about 20 lighthouses and I added two extra shelves so I have a total of 6 glass shelves and the bottom area. It was pricey but well worth it. My other Howard Miller cabinets are the normal 24" wide by 18" deep and 60" tall.

I found an eBay seller that makes curio risers that measure 16" long x 6" high x 5" wide. Stan cuts the 6" height to 2-1/2" and I use the riser on the back of wide shelves in a cabinet similar to Rich's (my cabinet has upper and lower glass doors on the sides that allow me access) and the 9" wide kitchen cabinets that I've had mirrors installed in the back that line the walls in my home-based office. The risers effectively allow me to stagger the sculptures so that I can fit about 1/2 again the number of pieces per shelf that I would without the riser in-place. The seller also makes risers that measure 14" x 2-1/2" x 5", but the 16" long ones work better for me.

I have also been looking for a new display curio, by way of the internet. I found a site
called "Phillip Reinisch Lighthouse Collection".
They had beautiful curios in many styles and
finishes, but they were quite expensive.
Sometimes furniture stores have good sales and
that's where I got my last one.
The only thing is that they don't always have as many shelves as I would like.

Add extra shelves as I have on all my curios. Most curios allow you to adjust the shelves by inserting the shelf pegs higher or lower. If you don't have the peg holes in the right spot all you have to do is drill holes where you want the shelf pegs to go. I usually add 2-3 shelves to each cabinet when I buy the cabinets. I usually space the shelves about 8-81/2 inches apart. I buy the extra shelves from a local glass/mirror dealer.

Sandy - I'd like to see a photo of your home office displays. I'm about ready to try to make room for part of my collection in my home office, too.

Sent you these via an email attachment, but am also including them here to prove to me (and Dave [God bless him]) that I found out what I've been doing wrong since yesterday afternoon!! The file extension (in this case "jpg") has to be capitalized also, not just the name of the picture.
