What are we to think of this?

We have been looking on eBay for all things Harbour Lights and found this:
Just sell it store

I feel "funny" about this. No boxes... mostly damaged pieces, low prices ...

What do you all think?

It all depends on what you want in your collection. I don't know of anyone who displays the original boxes. If the seller is honest about the damage and you can get it for the right price and live with the damage, why not take a chance?

Margret,

I have purchased from this seller before and have had only a possitive experience, both with communication and the careful packing. Note that in the list of all the HL pieces he has up, not all are "damaged" per his explanations. That tells me he is being extremely careful to be honest about the condition of each piece.

Also, each has been (lovingly?) displayed rather than kept in a box in a closet never to see the light of day.

You are working at building your collection, and he is offering some nice pieces at a tiny starting bid. So it comes down to - What's a box worth to you?

Go for it, and good luck with your bidding. smile

Thanks for the responses ...

The box is worth very little to us. I agree with Bob. You don't display the box. And we collect mostly for fun and not for investment.

Glad to hear that the seller is OK. But ...

Judy, I am glad to hear the seller is good. But you are lucky in that you are in the US.

I had a closer look at their delivery details. They categorically state - on their "About me" page - that they will not mark customs labels as gifts for overseas deliveries. That leaves us out. Hadn't seen that when I first posted...

As I have said many times -- I know I can get boring :p --, while we would not mind too much paying the customs fee, it becomes daylight robbery, when the UK post office charges a huge fee for the privelege of collecting the customs fee.
