Bill Event... Block's Hallmark - 10/14/02 02:44 AM

The Hoosier Lighthousing Club won Gold again today!!!

I forgot to get her name but she sure looks familiar....

Actually I do know her and Sue did the absolutely right thing when she whispered to Bill that, since we already had aquired a Gold Mark Twain Tower, we will donate this Gold Tower to the Hoosier Lighthousing Club. The club will sell Opportunity Drawing tickets to raise money for the Old Michigan City Lighthouse for the spiral staircase project so the public can climb to the lantern room...

We will be offering chances in 3 ways: on line in the forums, at our next Hoosier Lighthousing Club club meeting on Nov 2nd, and at the Winter Regional in Florida.. stay tuned for more details!!

The lighthouse that we bought for Sue's single entry was a mint condition Cape Blanco at the original list price, of course... this one must have been in it's box most of it's life, it is a really nice one.. since we just had visited the lighthouse, it drew me right to it and said buy me...

I've been waiting for an appropriate opportunity to lose my "newbie" status and make the 50th post - laugh CONGRATULATIONS SUE laugh , and thanks for being so generous in your donation of the Gold for Hoosier fund raising. Where do I sign up for a tickets (I need another chance at that Gold).

I decided at the last minute to go to Block's today, and so glad I did. Had a great time listening to Bill's tales again, a nice visit with the Bradys, got several more of my lights signed, smile and won a Haig Point in the drawing. All told a wonderful afternoon.

Now just two problems - confused need to figure out how to get one of those cool avatars on my posts, and how do I get those Krispy Kremes distributed thru my modem?

Congratulations Sue laugh Thanks for donating the lighthouse to the club. It is a fantastic piece. I hope the opportunity drawing is a big success. Have no fear, Roy and I will not be aquiring any opportunity drawing tickets for this piece. We will find other ways to donate to the staircase fund.

Congratulations to Light Hog on your 50th post and welcome to Wacko World laugh

Looks like Roger is wearing his Official Wacko Name Badge (at least he has the lanyard on). Congratulations on the Wacko status. Were Paul & Sue wearing their badges today?

My role model for donating the gold Mark Twain piece was Carolyn McBee who, after winning a second gold piece in St Louis, generously gave it back to allow another person to win it! Three cheers for Carolyn!

I think Paul's "badge" is that camera that's always hanging around his neck! wink

Congrats Sue and thank you for allowing us the opportunity to win the Gold! smile Though, as history has shown, you could auction it off on eBay and make a lot of money for the Old Michigan City Lighthouse. But I'm sure we are all happy to be given a chance at winning this lighthouse - possibly to sell for a hefty price on our own. I'm glad that the Old Michigan City Lighthouse will benefit from this event. I look forward to being able to climb the lighthouse. smile

Congrats also to Light Hog on his 50th post! Seems like it was a hard won Wacko-hood for you, but you made it. Welcome! I hope you get the avatar you want - you can make your own as John has posted. Krispy Kremes have been sent to your modem, but due to backorders it may be another 50 posts before they arrive. laugh

Re: Bill Event... Block's Hallmark - 10/15/02 09:37 PM

I just finished talking to the Director of the Michigan City Historical Society, June Jaques, and she has agree to be the person to draw the winning ticket in the Opportunity Drawing for the Gold Mark Twain Tower at the lighting ceremony at the Old Michigan City Lighthouse on Dec 7. All of the money will go directly to the Historical Society and be kept separate for the stairway project, so people will be able to take it as a tax exempt donation... the number is:

#00 313 9220 0010

and any checks will need to be made out to the:

Michigan City Historical Society

I will post later tonight the price of the tickets and my snail mail address, so stay tuned for that..

Way to go Sue!!!!!!! Jeff and I will enter the drawing one more time to try to win this piece. The one thing we know is even if we don't win the lighthouse, the money will go to a very very good cause.

What better time to draw for a winner than during the lighting ceremony for the Christmas lights. The gold lighthouse would make a great Christmas gift for any Harbour Light collector.
