Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving - 11/21/00 02:37 PM

Hey folks, just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. If you're travelling, be aware that there's a big national push to bust motorists for not buckling up this holiday weekend (according to USA Today it'll be particularly brutal in New York).
And don't forget your toothbrush.

As I count my blessings between football plays, I will be thinking of this forum and all the positive connections with people that have been made over the past few years. Thanks for your insight, your candor and your friendship. Be well and have fun.

Among the many things I'm thankful for are the many friendships which have arisen out of our mutual on-line interest in Harbour Lights and Lighthouses.

Happy Thanksgiving to all! For the first time in my life I will not be in my hometown for Thanksgiving. My sister has moved to Florida and my niece has convinced us to come to her place in Connecticut.

If you are traveling this holiday weekend remember these three things that lead to the most collisions, injuries, and death:

Excessive speed for existing conditions - The faster you go the more likely you will be seriously injured or killed if you are in a collision.

Don't consume alcoholic beverages if you are driving - One word: "Impairment". A collision you may have avoided if you were totally sober, may be unavoidable if you are impaired by alcohol or it some cases drugs.

Wear your seatbelt - Seatbelts do save lives! I've been to more highway fatalities than I can count. One phrase always appears on the police report of the accident, "Ejected from the vehicle". The human body does not do well versus the pavement, trees, bridges, or cars rolling over on it.

Yes, as Bill stated, the Police will be out in force to "bust" you this weekend if they catch you speeding, operating under the influence, or not wearing your seatbelt. Hopefully, they will be successful and save many innocent lives while they are doing it.

I apologize if anyone is offended by this somewhat grim post but those are the facts of life for the motoring public.

Stay safe!

I would like to wish everyone here in the forums a safe and very Happy Thanksgiving!

I think it is important to remember everything we have good in our lives. Sometimes we take things for granted and only then when they are gone do we fully realize how important or special they actually are.

Once again it is time to say thanks for Stove Top Stuffing, Mrs. Smith's pie and turkeys that you don't have to shoot, clean and pluck!

Here's wishing all of you and your families a happy and safe Thanksgiving! I'll be thinking of you as I toast the occasion with a glass of Harbor Lights wine!

Re: Happy Thanksgiving - 11/24/00 01:00 PM

Sorry I missed the Thanksgiving chat last night. I went to bed early, I'm working today.

I hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving. Since this is the first post for 11/24/00, I think everyone was either sleeping or too full to check out the forums.

The biggest shopping day of the year is upon us! The economy is good in this area despite the high fuel oil and gas prices. We have several malls in the area and I expect traffic to be horrendous until Christmas. Have fun and stay warm if you're heading out in New England today. It's only 15 degrees here.

Re: Happy Thanksgiving - 11/25/00 01:36 AM

I also hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. I'm still unable to move, but I'm sure feeling in my legs will return soon. (With apologies to anyone who mistook these words which were intended to be humorous, there is nothing wrong with me other than an annual overeating frenzy. My legs are fine. Sorry.)

I think we have the highest gas prices anywhere right here in Eureka Bob. Unleaded regular here is still $2.01 a gallon.

But about 60 degrees and hardly ever see snow, so I'm thankful for that.

Rich

Re: Happy Thanksgiving - 11/25/00 01:45 AM

Unleaded regular in town is $1.53 (87 octane). Mid price gas is $1.64 (89 octane), and super unleaded is $1.74. The summer before last you could buy the 87 octane at some stations for under a buck. It's funny though, leave the immediate area and head towards Boston or Providence and the gas prices go up by at least 10 cents a gallon. Different strokes for different folks! Go figure!
