Old North Church, Boston MA - 03/29/07 03:15 AM

Pointe Aux Barques MI is getting all the early attention. But the latest Musings from Harbour Lights also included a photo of the Old North Church along with the $99.50 price and the "HB" product number. Keep in mind that the Old North Church gets a licensing fee on each one sold (and it's probably more than the 50 cents.)

So you like it? You going to "Bark" about it or Buy it? Are you happy it has an HB product number?

Re: Old North Church, Boston MA - 03/29/07 04:39 AM

I am glad that Harbour Lights used the "HB"
Since this is a Historical Building and not a Lighthouse the HB is more appropriate.
I will buy it if it has a low production. I always thought the HB line had a chance and wondered why HL didn’t pursue it anymore. I think there are many out their like me that love the design and architecture of the buildings and not just the fact they are a lighthouse.

The HB designation is very appropriate. The ONC looks like a great model and I think it will be well received. There would be a variety of outlets, from those like Daniel that would buy is because of the wonderful detail and the architecture it shows to the folks interested in the history of the church. A lot of the congregation might also purchase a copy.

I receive ads to purchase models of various college football stadiums all the time. The Old North Church should sell at least as well as a football stadium!

I like the Old North Church piece. I will buy it because I like the historical buildings. And I am glad they used the HB product number instead of a HL LE product number.

I love this piece, and am pleasantly surprised. I'm glad for the HB numbering, and I would buy this for both the historical and architectural aspect. I hope we can look forward to more releases along this line.

REALISM!! towel to Harbour Lights on this one!

Re: Old North Church, Boston MA - 03/29/07 04:09 PM

As mentioned in the tread I started, that is now closed. mad I'm a history nut(not wacko or loon), so I will buy it as a history fan not as a lighthouse collector. Plus Mrs Loon has now seen it and wants it.

Glad they used a HB tag and not a HL.

I'm assuming that this one will be available in April ???

Still wondering what HL698 is???

Re: Old North Church, Boston MA - 03/29/07 06:52 PM

I've closed the RUMOR Thread and added my last post from that one to this one:

Fact!
As announced in the April Musings emailing to Collectors Society members.

Tony has stated the production count will be 1,500 pieces. Harbour Lights worked with the Old North Church closely on the piece and their gift shop has made a committment for a significant purchase.

It is HB906 (Historic Building), it will be available to Harbour Lights dealers, but will NOT be auto shipped. If you want one, contact your dealer. They will be shipped late in April.

Orders will be shipped to dealers on a "first-in, first-out" basis. [That does NOT mean lowest numbers shipped first. as products are NOT stored in the warehouse in numbered order.]

Size is 6x4 base and 8" height.

Re: Old North Church, Boston MA - 03/29/07 11:45 PM

I'm not going to say WOOF as this isn't anything like that "Other" item which has been BEAT to death, however what is the church sitting on (and I don't mean the faux wooden base thing)? There is something sandwiched between the round base and the actual church. I'm confused

I generally like it...and think that it will be a winner with most HL collectors. The edition number is correct and will probably buy it even though $99 is a bit "SALTY".

Speaking of "salty", what's with the prices of these newer HL pieces going up, up, up? I guess petroleum will do that. Oh well....

The Old North Church, MA (HB 906) was shown on the April Musings. Does anyone know what HB 905 was? Pemaquid Point Bell Tower, ME was HB 904.

Thanks,
Sandy

Although I won't be purchasing the Old North Church, I will say it will be a good seller and should sell out in a reasonable period of time. It has a HB designation and that was very wise. Unlike "Barking Rocks", I don't see any criticism coming from the HL collectors, some of which will purchase the ONC.

I have that in my inventory as CHL 101 and the paper label on the piece is CHL 101. Something's messed up here. . . . whistling whistling

Sandy,

I guess I can't help you much with this. The only to pieces I have that start with a "C" are:

CR101 New York Skyline
CSTM01 Cape Henry Memorial Cross, Virginia

I guess we need someone else to assist.

Seems to me the prices of newer HLs has been going DOWN, not up. Even though production quantities are smaller. And I can 'leak' that the soon-to-be-announced Society Exclusive is going to be dramatically less expensive compared with the past Society Exclusives.

Only Little Lights were increased and they were priced several years back when raw material and production costs were less.

(And what's the reference to 'salty'? I'm not familiar with that term.)

I don't even know...and I'm an American High School Student. Urban Dictionary, where I usually turn to to decipher slang (usually VERY VIVIDLY) scarred me a bit for life.

All I can think of is, what other word starts with "s?" It could just as well be thrown in.

Pricing – Old North Church

I read there is some concern related to the pricing of the Old North Church.

This is a uniquely engineered Replica.

The Church body lights and you can signal “One if by land two if by sea.”

Adding to the cost is a licensing fee paid to the Old North Church Foundation.

I hope this addresses the question.

Re: Old North Church, Boston MA - 03/30/07 04:36 PM

Thank You for the inside info. Now the pricing makes sense to me since we know it is lighted and the a fee goes to the foundation.

FYI: "Salty" is another form of saying that something is "a bit pricey". And I thought I lived in a cave.... this is an old saying in my area. :p

Sandy,

My Halfway Rock is also tagged as CHL 101.

Now I'm curious.

I can't think of what HB 905 was. MAYBE there is something else in the works for Historic Buildings! Who knows?

Re: Old North Church, Boston MA - 03/30/07 07:29 PM

From Tony:

"HB 105 IS Halfway Rock per the keeper of the numbers for HL products."

No explanation as to why the number on the label shows otherwise. That would have happened before their watch...

Let's return this thread to discussing HB 106, the Old North Church. From the image we havae seen and the information we have received, this should be a very interesting piece to see in person. And, it will be a pretty good sized one.

Dave,

Think you meant HB 905 and 906.

Sorry if I've ruffled your feathers kind sir, but thought this was the best place to get an answer to a question that is important to me.

If H.L. is going to be making churches I'll put in my request for the National Cathedral in Washington. I'd buy that one although I won't trade churches for lighthouses as far as collecting!

I am closing this thread since the discussion has now left the Old North Church totally in the past. If anyone wishes to dicuss the ONC please start a new thread. If you want to continue the discussions on the erratic maybe missing number please take that to a new thread.
