Tucker's Island a Keeper

Tucker's Island a Keeper - 07/03/02 12:43 PM

I just took a peak at my new Tucker's Island. It is a rather simple design with a lot of elaborate detail. I like the sign on the porch, "Tucker's Island Lighthouse". It is very well done and another welcome addition to the collection.

This is another "large footprint" light and it's a little on the heavy side. The edition number on this on is #0087. Those two zeros have shown up again! I prefer my edition number without them!

It's a fabulous HL so don't miss out on getting this one!

Right you are Bob! Excellent piece with, once again, lots of detail! What I find interesting about this one is that it looks great displaying it from the front or the back!

They keep getting better and better!

I just got my Tucker's yesterday! WOW! I'm partial to beach lighthouses but this one is too cool! I was just reading the history before it arrived. The sign on the front was a complete surprise although I see Bob M. saw it in July. Now I'll have to see what Bill H. said?
I also may have to look into buying the current sand bar? wink

I know its not easy for you guys that live far away, but if you ever get the chance to get to Jersey, be sure to stop by the Tuckerton Seaport. In addition to the replica of the original Tuckers Island lighthouse, there are tons of other things to do. And for the lighthouse lovers, just about all of NJs other lighthouses are an hours ride. Thanks Backdraft for the info, I will be looking to head in that area after Labor Day 2003.

The New Jersey Lighthouse Society just held their December meeting at the Seaport followed by a nice Social afterwards. Definately a place to visit.

I'll add my reccomendation also. they continue to add more things to the Tuckerton Seaport Baymen's museum.

And as Backdraft pointed out your not far from Absecon which recently opened up the restored Keeper's House, Hereford Inlet with it's beautiful gardens, Cape May where there are many nice things including the Physic Estate to tour, East Point which is being restored and is open more often these days, Barnegat and even Sea Girt, Navesink and Sandy Hook are not that far away.

You could do your own Lighthouse Challenge Weekend. End of commercial for NJ.

I didn't consider it one of the best pieces of the year, but it's certainly another solid entry from Harbour Lights. It will no doubt be very popular in Jersey.
