Where will those rumors we've loved come from??? - 05/10/06 06:41 PM

Bill, Nancy and Kim won't be at a store event until June 3. So you can't tease it out of them.

So just where will these rumors we've loved come from?

Are there psychics out there? Can you devine what will be coming out in about a month?

How about some wild guesses? Can't say yet whether you are right or wrong or warm or cold, but you might be able to win an honorary 'soothsayer' title for your guesses after the introduction.

Christmas 2006?
Six Limited Editions
One GLOW
Seven Little Lights

They all have something in common... They are lighthouses. wink

If you guess, give a reason for your guess, if you can.

Well I don't have a crystal ball and my Ouija Board is buried deep in the local landfill. My "Magic 8-Ball" went dry so I can only guess when it comes to the last half of 2006 pertaining to new HL releases.

Guess #1: Pomham Rock, East Providence, RI

Guess #2: Christmas 2006? Did we discuss the fact that a definite possibility was Conanicut Light at the Northern tip of Jamestown, RI? I thought one of our CF Detectives heard Bill say something about that light being considered as a Christmas piece. The light is red which would fit in with a Christmas theme.

Guess #3: Chop! Chop! ...Cape Cod lights are popular and East Chop and West Chop on Martha's Vineyard may be due for replication. They are not real different looking lights but hundreds of thousands of tourists see them every year en route by ferry to the Vineyard.

I will take a stab. One of the little lights will be Sand Key, FL. Some of us have been asking for it and it is near the ever popular Key West...in fact on a clear day you can see Sand Key from the top of Key West Lighthouse as well as from the wreckers museum tower.

Christmas - Conanicut, RI. Yes, Bill Younger was there in May 2005 taking photos for the production of this year's Christmas piece.

Little Lights - Since the last 2 sets have been produced to celebrate "lighthouse challenge" events, this set of releases will most likely all be from 1 state. Best guesses would be the Long Island Lighthouse Challenge, or more likely, the recent event in Maine, attended by the Youngers, which led to the LD exclusive of Halfway Rock. If this is correct, look for "Little Lights" of Seguin, Marshall Point, Owls Head, Hendricks Head, Little River, Portland Breakwater and Cuckolds.

LIMITED EDITION - It would be nice if they did a lighthouse lost in hurricane Katrina, but that may be planned for 2007.

From your mouth to God's ears Jim. I sold 100 fundraising HL Cedar Islands at the LIChallenge last year and requested a LI Little Light set for future challenges.

I have a funny feeling that there's a good chance for a LI Challenge LLOM set. If I remember, the NJ set came out during the third challenge, as did the MD set. Maybe it's a sort of thing, make sure the challenge is here to stay, then release a set.

Obviously, it's WAY too late for this year, but next year, I see a chance.

I don't have a guess but the Maine Regional lights for the LLOM would be terrific! Long ago, I gave up on the idea of collecting all the LE's of lights I've visited. The LLOM's will not be a bad substitute. cool

Greg, are those 2 sets still available? I got the NJ one and need another (gift)and would like the MD for myself. I did it the first year.

Tom,
I got mine from the Calvert Museum??? I think?
Called the gift shop and they sent it by mail. No special set or box - just the MD lhs at a discounted price for the set. That was a couple years ago but they still may have a few sets.
Worth a try.

The Maritime Museum had the sets available during the Maryland Challenge at a Nancy Event...
Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum

Also they were available through other HL Dealers in 2004..

From Paul's link.

"Only 200 sets will be created to mark the event. Sets can be pre-ordered through the Calvert Marine Museum. The sets can either be picked up during the Maryland Lighthouse Challenge or shipped to your home if you won't be attending. To order, call the Calvert Marine Museum at 410-326-2750."

The Maryland set that I purchased at the Calvert Museum was a signed set by Nancy Younger during the 2004 Maryland Lighthouse Challenge.

I believe she may have also done the same with the NJ Lighthouse Challenge Set- she was at Hereford Inlet for the Challenge the year they had the sets. Unfortunately for some reason I did not buy one of those.

I checked with them and they no longer have any of those sets available.
