2004 Wacko Badge Part 2 - 04/02/04 03:40 AM

This is a continuation of part 1 .

The lighthouse selected for support from the Forum members this year is Esopus Meadows, NY .

The Save Esopus Lighthouse Commission has accomplished quite a bit of work in the past few years. Several of our members have been able to visit the light, and some have even been able to help work on the light.

Hopefully, by the end of the year, when everyone has had the opportunity to order their badges, we will be able to give the Commission a gift in the vicinity of $1,000. With your help we can reach this goal.

For those that don't know the history of theses badges, this will be the fourth badge. The first was done in 2001 to be used at the Baltimore Reunion. Proceeds were given to St. George Reef Light in California. These badges were available only to those that attended the Reunion, and were very popular. Because of this, the project was continued in 2002 (Block Island Southeast) and 2003 (Bodie Island). The badges compliment the Wacko Pins that will be sold sometime this spring. It is a fun way to support lighthouse preservation and to have a way to recognize those other members of the Forum Family you have only "met" on the internet. And, no, you don't have to have achieved the coveted "Wacko" ranking in the Forums.

As they were last year, the badges will be $6 each (postage included). You may pay by check or by using PayPal. You can order a badge for yourself, your spouse, your kids, your pets, whatever. Just remember to order early and order often! There are NO lanyards left - I even sold my spare one.

A special thanks to Forum member Bryan Acree who has allowed us to use his picture of Esopus Meadows for the badge. To order yours, please click here for ordering information .

In case you are wondering what the badge looks like:

There are lots of folks who still need to be ordering their Limited Edition Collectible 2004 Wacko Badges. There were too many people at the Saint Augustine regional that were not wearing current style! And, we have the Door County event, the West Coast regional and all the various signing events where you should be "tagged". And, remember that the funds raised will be given to Esopus Meadows to help their restoration projects.

On a sad note, the lanyards are all gone. You can find all sorts of interesting lanyards at sporting good stores, dollar stores, and your favorite lighthouse gift shop.

Coming to the Door County Collector's Dinner? Have your 2004 badge to wear? If not, there is still time to get it ordered. Same goes for those going to the car cruise on Cape Cod and the various ALF gatherings.

Dave,

You will be receiving a request for a badge through the mail from Mary Hubbard,a lady I see each year at the HL events here in CO. She does not have email so I told her she could use my address. I printed out the order form and gave it to her. Once you receive her request, if you have any questions, email me and I will give her a phone call. Mary and her husband are very dedicated collectors. Matter of fact Mary has won 3 golds in a row! Two last year, and one the year before!!

Going to the Oakland Regional event on July 4th? Have your 2004 Wacko Badge all set to go? If not, you need to get it ordered so you can receive it in time.

There are no HL Wacko lanyards left, but the badge is always available.

Order yours now!
