Other lighthouse pins - 10/14/99 05:15 PM

With the interest generated by the wacko pin how many other pins are available from lighthouse organizations for fund raising? I see from these forums that a lot of us are interested in items that are related our collecting of HL. There are at least three other organizations whose members collect pins that I am famiiar with.

How about some info on lighthouse groups that are fund raising by selling pins? It would help if you could furnish us wth addresses, prices, websites etc.

I have quite a few lighthouse pins that I've been able to find in our travels. I think most were purchased at the lights vistor's center or gift shop. A notable exception is Sand Island, AL. Check this web site, the pin is part of their fund raising.

I have pins from Huntington Harbor, Fire Island, Montauk, Horton Point, St Augustine and Ponce Inlet.

Perhaps we'll do one for the Plum Island effort, too.

If anyone is interested in any of these, I'll try to get you as much info as I can.

I purchased a very nice pin at Tybee Island last summer. It was actually made on the island by one of the local artisans. It is sold in the gift shop and the proceeds benefit the Tybee Island Light restoration group. If you go, it is worth buying. IMHO, it is the prettiest pin that I own.
